Management Statement for the SHS Group
Sustainability and responsible action are deeply rooted in the SHS group of companies and form an essential component of our corporate philosophy. The SHS Group stands for the production of high-quality steel products in a modern and sustainable manner. For this, we remain at all times aware and in sight of our responsibility to the environment as well as to present and future generations. On the foundation of our successes already achieved and with the aim of shaping a dignified and enjoyable future for all, we work continuously on recognising potentials for improvement and for setting ambitious targets.
Memberships and awards
The SHS Group is socially committed – both regionally and globally. With our membership of a range of sustainability initiatives, we make an active contribution to the promotion of this urgent necessity. In addition, we have our CSR performance tested by independent third-parties at regular intervals. Within the framework of the Science-Based Targets Initiative (SBTI), we have, at present, achieved “Committed” status. EcoVadis, the world’s largest provider of Corporate Social Responsibility ratings, has distinguished the Saarstahl Group’s sustainability strategy with its Platinum Award. Saarstahl is thus numbered among the top one percent of all companies evaluated by EcoVadis.
„We are Pure Steel+“
Pure Steel+ symbolises our ambition, even after the decarbonisation of our production, to be one of the most modern and most innovative European steelmakers. The slogan “We are Pure Steel+“ expresses our common approach and our driving force: Innovation, high-achieving and solution-orientated action for a sustainable future.
The term “Pure” symbolises the high quality of our steel products which are, even now, propelling forward the energy and mobility turnaround. “Pure” also stands for the drive and achievements of all of our employees, both male and female, who make the turnaround possible with their great commitment, and for their pride in being part of it. We identify our CO2-reduced steel with the “+” sign.
